چکیده

Q-ball configuration that represents oscillating or spinning closed membrane is constructed via M(atrix) theory. Upon gravitational collapse Q-balls are expected to form Schwarzschild black holes. For quasi-static spherical membrane, we probe spacetime geometry induced by monopole moment via D0-parton scattering off the Q-ball. We find a complete agreement with long distance potential calculated using eleven-dimensional supergravity. Generalizing to heterotic M(atrix) theory, we also construct Q-ball configurations of real projective and disk membranes. The latter Q-ball configuration arises as twisted sector of heterotic M(atrix) theory, hence, are expected to form a charged black hole after gravitational collapse. 1 Work supported in part by the NSF-KOSEF Bilateral Grant, KOSEF SRC-Program, Ministry of Education Grant BSRI 97-2410, and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies.

Charged-spinning-gravitating Q-balls

We consider the lagrangian of a self-interacting complex scalar field admitting generically Q-balls solutions. This model is extended by minimal coupling to electromagnetism and to gravity. A stationnary, axially-symmetric ansatz for the different fields is used in order to reduce the classical equations. The system of non-linear partial differential equations obtained becomes a boundary value ...

Symmetry breaking in (gravitating) scalar field models describing interacting boson stars and Q-balls

We investigate the properties of interacting Q-balls and boson stars that sit on top of each other in great detail. The model that describes these solutions is essentially a (gravitating) two-scalar field model where both scalar fields are complex. We construct interacting Qballs or boson stars with arbitrarily small charges but finite mass. We observe that in the interacting case – where the i...

Angularly excited and interacting boson stars and Q-balls

We study angularly excited as well as interacting non-topological solitons, so-called Qballs and their gravitating counterparts, so-called boson stars in 3 + 1 dimensions. Q-balls and boson stars carry a non-vanishing Noether charge and arise as solutions of complex scalar field models in a flat space-time background and coupled minimally to gravity, respectively. We present examples of interac...

Charge-swapping Q balls.

Q balls are nontopological solitonic solutions to a wide class of field theories that possess global symmetries. Here we show that in these same theories there also exists a tower of novel composite Q-ball solutions where, within one composite Q ball, positive and negative charges coexist and swap at a frequency lower than the natural frequency of an individual Q ball. These charge-swapping Q b...
